    I suspect it is a dragonfly of some type, but seems quite big for the area (Tallaght).

    That's a very rare one in Ireland. Can't see picture, but would be amazing if it turned up in Tallaght. Stranger things have happened.

    Yep, from what I am seeing it's definitely an unusual sighting. I do see someone has listed another sighting in Killiney this year:

    Might be Large White Butterfly. Lots of caterpillars have a similar pattern of colours, but that one is very common.
