Name this insect

I suspect it is a dragonfly of some type, but seems quite big for the area (Tallaght).

Thank you Dave. It looked really cool but seemed a bit out of place in the estate.

That's a very rare one in Ireland. Can't see picture, but would be amazing if it turned up in Tallaght. Stranger things have happened.

Wow, so interesting!

Might be Large White Butterfly. Lots of caterpillars have a similar pattern of colours, but that one is very common.

Now you’ve got me excited.

I can’t find anything similar on the web. They’ve taken up residence on a Flame Flower and are munching their way through it. Luckily there’s plenty of it.
