Hi all. Planted a Portuguese laurel hedge from pots last summer and it's not doing well. It's against a wall, east facing. Was kept watered and has landscaping fabric to stop weeds. anyone have any ideas about what's wrong? Pic below.

A few tips here (see "General Problems with Portuguese Laurel Hedging"), but you appear to have shot-hole in last-years growth and stunted growth.

Are they planted too deep? What are the general ground conditions like, could the soil be generally water-logged?

Sorry I know I'm becoming a bit of a broken record but have to ask did anyone spray near it, either selective weedkiller on the lawn or glyposate around the base of the hedge or even in the field over the wall?

Wake me up when it's all over.

Looks like powdery mildew. It will eventually recover.

Thanks for replies. Don't think area was sprayed. Looks like shothole from the article linked. Don't see any mildew on it.
