Spotted an "oil leak" on a diesel mondeo mk 4 but it appears to unusual. The leak is coming from the coolant expansion tank!
Originally the thoughts were head gasket, but the oil is going INTO the water, not water into oil. Research suggests the oil cooler has gone allowing the pressurised oil to enter the water system and so leaves via the expansion tank overflow.
Car was nct'd 2 weeks ago, and oil was filled then. It is showing now at half full (no water or mayo). Would it be safe enough to drive to the mechanics workshop if required do you think. About 8 miles.
    Cheers

I would not chance that, get it towed, oil running through the coolant channels in your engine will not absorb heat hence will cause overheating. And I can't imagine engine oil will be too good for the likes of water pump, thermostat. You're going to need a thorough flush of the cooling system for a start aswell as another oil change possibly
