I'm trying to drill holes above my daughter's bedroom window to hang a Roman blind, but I've run into problems drilling the holes for the brackets. The drill bit wasn't going in well, and started just moving from side to side. I stopped, and realised I've hit some metal. See attached pics. The brackets have to be put at this height. Is the metal likely to run across the entire window?

Have you got a HSS bit of the same diameter to drill through the metal and go back to the masonry bit afterwards?

I was a bit wary of trying to drill through whatever it was, so I just tried placing the brackets further in, towards the centre of the window and there was no metal there. Job done now, and the mess is hidden behind the blind, so I'm happy enough. Thanks for the reply!

Nice one. A little skim of filler and a few dabs on the paint brush should cover your tracks nicely.
