I drive a 2009 Golf manual petrol, never gave me hassle. Today i noticed that it was getting harder to cycle through the gears from 1st to 4th as i was driving on the road then i just couldnt get into gear and i had to pull into a car park. I could only get into gear when the engine was off, but it got too stiff to move with the engine on.

After a few minutes of trying this, suddenly it worked again no problem! Im not sure if this is a serious clutch or fluid type issue or maybe something else that should be examined by a garage. Im sure they will tell m
e it needs about 1000euros of repairs but if i just hope for the best, it could happen again when i least expect it. Any advice on what to do or look out for to troubleshoot this issue?

Could be the Slave cylinder, tend to go on these.

Give the clutch pedal a good few pumps with the bonnet open. Ideally if there is someone else with it is a lot easier. See if there is a spray of fluid or anything anywhere
