Biological influences determining homosexuality?

GWAS (genome wide association study) had attempted to isolate genes and potential biomarkers which are seemingly associated with or commonly seen in homosexuality.

The thinking is obviously an attempt to determine the cause for homosexual impulse and inclination, if it is indeed determined or influenced by predisposed biology or coded in the genome itself.

Neuroscience seems to loosely quantify disposition determination into three (formerly two) general catagories:

    1) Genetic prediposition (nature)
    2) environmental influence (nurture)
    3) developmental phase (contemporarily introduced).

The latter two would, you would imagine, be largely co-dependent.

Our environment will be a function of parental/family-environment influence, but also cultural and political (often overlooked).

I think the latter gets overlooked as each developmental progression will of course be put "through the lens" or be a function of category 1)
i.e. environmental influence will render varying results according to the genetic state through which they're influencing.

    .........

The primary contention of the GWAS investigation is to determine the degree to which base biology potentially determines a homosexual tendency.

But whilst there may be influences or "risk factors" (per se), the general opinion seemed to be the mysteries of the developmental phase is in a sense the potential primary determinant.

Put this in perspective of a condition like schizophrenia.

Many experienced clinicians having spent a professional career managing the condition, firmly contend its potential onset becomes apparent in childhood, many many years before the actual emergence of psychotic symptoms.

This would allude to a predisposed state with vastly increased risk factor or essential high probability of developing the condition at its emergent age of about late teens to early 20's.

    .....

Relative to homosexuality, I mean - "he doesn't even know he's gay yet".
We hear that expression all the time, see it all the time.

A dude coming of age has basically yet to realize he will have affinity for the same sex, despite this being apparent to outside observers.

This is simply attributable to base characteristics.

    Characteristics they were born with....?

    "Epigenetic heritability"?

They inherit the traits and characteristics of their parents, the traits their parents acquired over their lifetime, passed via the epi-genome.

Unquestionably babies are born with, in many respects, fully formed personalities.

    ......

Therefore, it may not necessarily be as it were, a mal-adaptive developmental phase that provokes those genetics risk factors.

But an incomplete development phase that fails to preclude the emergence of the condition, giving way to the risk factors - more so.

    .....

And in terms of a complete developmental phase, social/emotional/behavioral, with respect to their extrapolated forms - cultural/political - the epitome of complete development is to be found in the current political hot topic, "the gender gap".

Hey don't take my word for it....

Just ask Josepha Madigan, Maria Walsh, Jennifer Carroll McNeill, Francis Fitzgerald, Helen McEntee + many of their pals currently presiding over national policies of this country, determining cultural and political events.

I think just a markers but environment kids grow can influence DNA big time.
