Cusin QR wheels on a non-QR bike

Are bikes the same for QR and non-QR wheels? My current is non-QR and I don't want to change, but most cheap wheels are QR now and I'm wondering if it makes a difference. Another option is to find a non-QR wheel cheap. It's for my town bike so I dont want to put anything on it that will just get robbed.
