How has it been stolen twice ? is it being taken without the keys / a design flaw of the car or are they taking it with the keys (in which case a new car likely won't solve the issue)

If you recovered it it's no longer stolen.. or am I missing something?

Good point Shane, but I won't be fixing it possibly. I'd rather not wait the month to fix it, it needs imported parts. If it's an easy sure but the last time it was 2700(insurance paid) and a month wait to get it back.

It's stolen twice because it's a 2013 imported hybrid, apparently they're very easy to rob. Jimmy the door open, pop the ignition off and off you go. I would call that a serious security flaw but me being the idiot I am didn't expect that a 2013 toyota would be like that. No immobilisor or alarm. It's basically a joyriders wet dream.

I guess my question should be, how much would you normally get for trading in a damaged car, I didn't even know you could trade them in. Just a noob

If it's that easy to nick maybe add in a third party immobiliser/alarm? Lots of options out there.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

No Toyota garage will want that, they'll just offload it to the trade........ likely worth as little as €2000 trade in if this is any way accurate......

I'd a JDM car and it had a good alarm/immobiliser with stickers on the widow and flashing alarm light, still didn't stop people breaking in and smashing the car up to try to start it. The options will stop the car being stolen it won't stop the damage when they try to steal it.

Those jap imports seem so easy to steal. There always getting stolen and joy rided in bad areas

I suppose it's somewhat good to know that joyriders are thinking of the planet by targeting hybrids.

OP do a history check on the car, if it shows up as stolen recovered it will effect trade in value. If nothing shows up then trade the car in and say nothing

When they see the steering /ignition lock popped will that not give them a clue?

Didn’t realise OP doesn’t want to fix it. Better to fix it then sell the car or trade it in

The only way to find out is to ask a Toyota dealer(s).

Toyota dealer won’t be retailing it either way. Also they will offer you pittance for it. It’s the sort of car you can sell privately quite handy but is of no interest to the trade.

Put it through a car auction. You can be surprised at some of the prices people pay

Yeah if it was fixed you’d sell an Aqua not a bother
