How does WEEE work? Can I take my old battered lawnmower to Tesco?

I want to buy an electric lawnmower in Tesco. My old electric lawnmower is on its last legs.

I've never done this WEEE thing.

Does Tesco have to take my old one? Do I just wheel the old battered lawnmower up to the till and say hello?

Take it to your local council civic amenity site. Battery and plug appliances are free.
