So have noticed recently in the area 2 camper van parking sites that have opened. Does anyone know if planning permission or other environmental permits are needed to allow these ? One definitely doesn’t have a record of applying for planning permission . It Even Offers to take your waste water . Surely some kind of paperwork / approval is needed to operate one of these ?a lot of concern in the area about it , it’s a scenic and historical location and isn’t really suitable for large volumes of camper vans on the local roads .Any info from people that know about these things would be appreciated.

It's a change of use of the land and as such requires planning permission.

You can check on the local authority web site to see if there has been any planning application recent or historic. Just log into the planning section.

You have the option of making a written complaint to the Enforcement Section of the Planning Department of the relevant local authority.

They will be obliged to reply to you and investigate your complaint.

If a planning application is made for retention you can make an observation or objection.

If pp is granted you then have the option of appealing to An Bord Pleanala.
