Fireplaces are extremely heavy. Be very careful with it.

Get is sorted as a matter of urgency - at the very least get it completely off the wall onto the floor so it can't hurt anyone.

It could be just that the calk/silicon shrank back - is there movement if you push pull it towards/away from the wall?
if its not loose to touch, its ot going anywhere.

Looks like sh1te caulking was used and it's dried out and shrunk. Feel the fire place and see if there is any movement. It should feel rock solid. Any movement need to get it looked at and keep little ones away from it!

Santa destroyed our fireplace; so I had the local chimney sweep fit a "C-cap" purchased from chimney products.ie

    Here's how we looking

Saving a fortune on heating costs as we rarely used it atall and now there's no heat loss up the chimney.
