Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Information on Irish Civil Certificates

Is it possible to get more information from a certificate without having to pay €20 for a copy.

I have a possible link to a relative of the wife who died in 1952 but as I'm padding out a complete branch to my OH branch of a tree there's a lot of missing confirmations such as death, marriage and birth certificates and at €20 a pop I see this as being costly

    Thanks

4 quid for a genealogy copy from the GRO, the 20 is for a certified copy for legal purposes.

1952 deaths are online for free, its 50 years for death, 75 for marriage, 100 for birth.

Thanks on that, how do you get genealogy copies rather than registered?

Is there any similar facility for after 1971 deaths, 1946 Marriages or 1921 Births? I assume the search room at GRO is what I need when it reopens?

There's indices online up to 1958 for everything on familysearch.org and on some pay sites; this can narrow down without needing to do a search and if you've not got a common name to look for, just order a few certs and hope. Beyond 58 its the research room you need.

In the pre-COVID days, some people had good luck on the phone with getting the GRO staffer to basically do the search for you - and confirm further details before committing at that. Not sure that's possible now.

You can pay them the fiver search fee to do it remotely, using the same email as ordering at the moment. Just give what detail you have.
