Fishing on the Royal Canal/Dublin region

As I couldnt see a new thread on this:
With the summer upon us I am going to get into casual fishing... I will get to Henrys fishing shop and get a rod and a basic enough set up (might get a telescopic rod for the moment)
Is there many spots around Dublin for a couple of hours fishing? I enjoy the Royal Canal route and would be willing to travel out to Kildare to set up.

    Any guidance would be welcomed
    Cheers Boardsies

There is a dedicated Angling Forum. Should be able to get some guidance there.
