Got a delivery of timber for decking and ordered lengths of D rail . What was delivered is straight edged. I'm going to pop into place I got it but wanted to check I didn't fluff up.

I'll take some later but I ordered 2x4 lengths also and it's thinner than that. It's rough and defo not suitable for a railing. :/

Here's a pic straight edge on both sides.

Thanks for info. I was second guessing myself when the delivery man pointed to it and said that's your d rail..

That would be him compensating for them probably not having the item you that ordered in stock and not telling you the truth.

Walk in and ask to see a sample of their D rail.

Grand. I asked when ordering do you have d rail and the lad checked and said yeah. So maybe they interchange stock as apart from missing rounded edges the dimensions appear to be OK.

What did you pay for that "D" rail. What you got is the cheapest grade of treated timber going.

Wake me up when it's all over.

10 euro for 4.8m length. I got 4 of them.

Seems a little expensive but cheap D rail would be between 12 and 15 euro. Really nice stuff is mad price.

Honestly, I would ask them to replace that. Shouldnt be an issue for them.

Yeah I went in an explained. It was substituted. They will swap but don't have proper in stock and only other railing isn't wide enough it's like the hand rail for inside stairs but treated. I just want 100 m as I plan to attach to pergola which is also 100 m post and have a centre 100Mm post for it to sit on with spindles in between.

Apparently timber is in short supply!
