Ok restrictions lifted and getting away to Westport for a weekend in Mid June

Unfortunately indoor dining not open(except for hotel) and booked dinners for the nights we are there

So there are 5 adults 1 teenager and one infant heading west. Plan to go to Achill for day and drive around there for the day. Again no outdoor dining open in the pubs in Achill I emailed and a few food vans around the island

So looking for places to visit things to do etc around the area. Wont be doing any long walks some of party not fit for it but any other things to see or do that anyone can suggest

Or anyone know of places to eat that are open. Only place we found was The Towers and Westport House and in the hotel

    All suggestions welcome

    Cheers

Downpatrick Head and the Ceide Fields is another potential day trip or the Turlough House Museum.

I know you said no to long walks but an option would be bikes on the greenway. The people in the group not fit for long walks could use the electric bikes if they were up to it. Wouldn't have to do a long cycle, just an hour or as long as the battery lasts.

Would you consider a boat trip or sea fishing? Knock a few hours at the beach possibly.

Might be some info in this thread on places which are open:

What's best beaches to visit? Also boat trips would suit us any suggestions

Will have a look to see what's open in Westport for outdoor dining but mainly for lunch and sneaky daytime drinks outside if weather good

    - Westport Cruises go from Westport Quay. Booking definitely advised.
    [URL="https://www.westportcruises.com[/URL]

    - Clew Bay Bike Hire have locations along the Greenway (nice stretch for your group would be Mulranny-Achill-Mulranny. Roundtrip of 24km, about 2 and a bit hours in total. E-bikes around 50euro with no option to only pay for an hour).

    - If the weather is bad, definitely go to the National Museum of Country Life in Turlough Castlebar. Brilliant exhibits. https://www.museum.ie/en-ie/home

    - Great drives include:
    - Westport to Cong (Ashford Castle)
    - Westport to Leenane/Kylemore Abbey
    - Westport-Louisburgh-Doolough Valley into Aashleigh Falls and back
    - North Mayo (Down Patrick Head)

    - Achill is worth a visit, but if the weather is nice head very early as the beaches will get packed. Keel and Keem (the most westerly point) are popular, with other smaller beaches scattered around the coast. Try to book an outdoor table at John Nevins (Tiernaur) for the pitstop on the way back.

    - Tidal pool at the point in Westport Quay for a dip. Great beaches out the West road include Bertra (just past Croagh Patrick), Old Head (this side of Louisburgh) and further out you have Carrownisky.

My favorite would be Carrownisky. Mayo Surf also set up here. If you've never tried, do a surf lesson with the family. Great craic.

    - Westport has great restaurants but outdoor dining options are VERY limited unfortunately.

Hope you have a great time.

Keem beach is one of the best in the country. If the food trailer is there you can get a lovely coffee. Its on your "achill day" trip
Silver strand passed Louisburgh is also incredible. Also coffee trailer in Kileen
Get too Doolough there for a look, coffee trailer there.
Turlough house worth a visit in Castlebar.
