Excellent thread and thank you for posting link, yeah much the same problem,my car is automatic,so any time the problem happened was when i started the car, when the garage looked at the car they did mention the steering rack, but they found no issues, and there was no warning light, they did not charge and handed car back, that was over 3 mths now give or take, then wallop happened this morning, and is now gone back to normal,

I have definitely suffered from loose connections for other car components.

When I found the bad connector it was fairly obvious by the corrosion I used a tiny spot of conductive grease on each connection. Beware because its conductive it can short out connections if you use to much. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005T8QLYM

The problem can be that the garage temporarily fixed the problem by separating any connector blocks and reconnecting them.

Something else I've done as a temporary fix on an old car is to very slightly twist the male pins so they push harder against the female part of the joint. But overdo it and you have messed up the connector block.

If you can clean the connections thats great but normally they are so small or shrouded that you can't really do anything.

Another possible is that the crimped connections on the ends of the terminations in the connector block are corroded. In which case just moving the wire around may get everything working again temporarily.

Corrosion on car electrical components is a ba$tard to try and fix.

Ok late reply and a fix,yes it was a "power steering control unit" in the lancer located behind glove box, since the problem seems to be rare i took one from a scrapped lancer, but an auto electrician can fix im sure a faulty unit, have been driving with out any problem since
