Some Freeview stations - how to get Irish ones as well?

Hey guys - hoping for some help here.

I’ve moved in to a rented house which can’t get Sky installed, but does have access to some UK channels which I assume is via Freeview?

Probably a very straightforward question, but how do I install the Irish channels as well? As we’re only renting I’m not sure what the background is with aerials etc., but we do seem to have a Saorview box however it’s disconnected and I’m told it didn’t work the last time it was tried.

Is there any reason why the Saorview box wouldn’t work to install the Irish stations? If I do get it working, will I lose access to the UK stations I have?

Finally (and I’m unsure if this makes any difference), but the Tv looks to be a standard enough Nordmende model, probably 5 years old at least I’d imagine.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Where is the property and are there any mountains nearby?
If you go outside and walk around do you see any "satellite dish" or aerial?
What does the connection into the back of the TV look like?

Saorview comes through an "aerial" which can be on the roof or sometimes inside. The aerial should be pointed towards the nearest "transmitter" which you can find here :
    https://www.saorview.ie/en/get/coverage

Some of the Northern Ireland /Border transmitters also transmit Saorview and if its a recent rv it should scan both if the signal is strong enough

For most southerners the way to get British channels is via a dish but it sounds like your place has some other random setup.

Sorry to be pedantic but certain transmitters in N. Ireland carry slimmed down ROI channels - RTE1/2 are in SD not HD along with TG4.
