Tiles for outside

I'm thinking of constructing a tiled counter top out side beside the BBQ.
Do I specifically need outside tiles or could I use any type of tiles ?
Is there a special bedding material or grout?
If I use ordinary tiles, would they be susceptible to frost?

Apologies for the potentially stupid questions but I'm trying to be as economical as possible.

    TIA

Ordinary tiles are fine, unless if your going to walk on them. If you were you’d just need high slip rated tiles.
Ordinary tile adhesive & grout are all fine for this, as the are moisture resistant.
    Just get flexible adhesive.

Only issue with frost will be if you have hollow spots in between the tiles and adhesive.

    Thanks e.r,
Hoping that would be the case.
No walking on it unless the BBQ gets really good......

Just a simple counter top, now with a slight fall to prevent water lying

Won't the grout on this end up looking pretty grubby after a while?

I would think you need to use porcelain tiles outside as they would me more resistant to frost, you'll get bigger tiles too which is beneficial for a counter top I would think.
