Pressure x temperature calculation

    Hi all,

    I've a query about correlating output when pressure and temperature are the variables, could anyone help?!

    I want to seal 2 pieces of material together, using a heated sealer at 100 degrees C and at a pressure of 5kN. If I want to reduce the pressure, what formula do I need to know what pressure increase I should expect?

    If you don't have manufacturer's information, you'll have to do it empirically. Define some sort of acceptance criteria for the seal (e.g., doesn't leak below some threshold value), then run some experiments using varying temp and pressure. Plot all the samples which passed the seal test to show you what the behaviour is.

    Google "design of experiments" for background.

    what about failure temp/pressure?

    cycles before failure etc?
