Looking for help on how to get Irish/UK channels through skybox

    Currently have sky installed, want to get rid.

    Can I use my skybox for free channels? from googling it seems this won't give the free Irish channels (rte etc.)

    Does this mean I'd need a combi box? This would then have the coax cable and aerial plugged into it?

    How does the satellite dish get powered?

    The sky box will only give you the UK Freesat channels. Freesat channels are here: https://www.freesat.co.uk/channels.

    To receive Irish channels you will need an aerial which you should plug into your TV, and you will only be able to see these channels if the TV is Saorview enabled. Most if not all TVs on sale in Ireland the past five years are SV enabled. Otherwise its a combi box or a separate Saorview box.

    The Skybox sends 12V (I think) to the LNB pointing into the satellite dish.

    You could also change the existing sky box for a sky DRX595c which is half the original size and produces zero noise as there's no hard-drive and that's no loss since you can't record without subscription,

    If fitted four sky drx595c boxes with UK cards in my home along with an aerial for the Irish channels,
    Pick up the boxes on Adverts or the likes, I bought three brand new on eBay UK but that was before Brexit
