How much contention / congestion on Fibre

    Hi,

Long time Virgin Media customer. Currently paying 70€ a month for 360MB. Fibre is now available in my area and I see Vodafone offering 500MB for €30 a month including landline calls. Seems like a no-brainer but just wondering how badly congestion/contention affects these Fibre products. I have a cable connection with VM so if it says 360 I get 360. What are people's experiences?

    Thanks.

Purely depending on location , I would say with Vodafone/SKY you've more chance to hit with congestion compare to Eir with same product.
I am with EIR , rural Kerry , gigabit (950 download/100 upload )day or night.
I won't be expecting same results in busy Dublin area though .

Usually SIRO speeds are constant. Haven't seen any real "congestions" so far. Maybe -10% of the throughput during peak times.

    Two different homes in Louth.
