    Hi all,

    Im looking for some recommendations.
I'm looking for a decent black paint for timber that'll be doing on an 8x4 trailer that i'm making.
I've douglas fir ordered, so it doesn't need paint protection but I want to paint it anyway for the look.

I used fence life black oak on treated timber for flowerbeds last year and its nearly faded to brown already.

Is there anything else out there that would keep the timber looking black and not fade as fast.

I want to keep the look of the timber so I dont want to use something like satin wood or hammerite that'll cover all the grain completely.

If you were feeling adventurous you could try doing Shou Sugi Ban.

Brosna paints do a great paint. Oil based. Excellent stuff.

Expensive but will do the job and also handy on the metal https://www.owatrol.ie/product/owatrol-deco/

Wake me up when it's all over.

These hardwood battens have one coat of oil based undercoat.

    Is this enough grain?

Dunno how long it will last since it's only just done.

Used diesel oil mixed with Linseed 30/70 and thinned with a little white spirits for penetration.

Osmo do exterior products. I haven't used them but I've used their hardwax oil & polyx oil and find them very good. If you want the wood grain to be visible I think natural oil woodstain might be your best bet.

Sadolin woodstain, cheap but oil based- a winning combination!
