Hi anyone used hard oil wax for new wood instead of varnish or paint?
Any ideas on enhancing the natural wood?

Have used Osmo hard wax oils on white deal boards, on birch ply and on pine shelf brackets. Sometimes used white tinted, sometimes clear (Polyx satin). I'm very happy with the quality. It does take more skill to apply well than paint in my experience but the finish is lovely - feels really nice too. Now, I haven't used it on floors so I can't say how well it will hold up there but I did a lot of research and I didn't come across complaints about durability. Personally, I don't think I'd like the look of clear hard wax oil on red deal - I would guess it will come out quite orangey because it really enhances the grain and red deal has a lot of red/orange in it to begin with, but that's a personal preference. You can get samples of Osmo that you could try out.

Painted a stairs with Ronseal floor paint and it came out great. It's white though and not suitable for clean freaks (luckily I'm not one!) because it shows up every bit of dirt.
