    Hey all,

My wife booked flights with Ryanair in August 2020 for Lanzarote in June 2021. The same flights have gone out and come back the last three weeks. Obviously she is not going to go, contacted Ryanair to use the free flight change option and rebook for next year they said free change has to be used on flights before end of October (not an option for her with work etc). They advised holding out to within two weeks of flight which is now so she has to decide her new dates - why should she have to pay several hundred euro to change when government saying it's against the law to fly for unessential reasons - is there anything else she can do?

No, not unless Ryanair change the flight time beyond 2 hours. Then you can apply for a refund.

If you wait 7 days before departure you will no longer be able to apply for a free change.

They are offering the service so up to you if you travel. In reality I know you are restricted by regulations though but Ryanair will say that’s not their issue. Wait as late as possible to see if they cancel - then you get a full refund.

This sort of comment is daft.

The ts and cs are clear enough if you had read them.

In fairness when you booked the tickets there was an advice against non essential travel, too.

Bashing Ryanair for it isn't fair. You should know the risk. Now obviously covid lasted longer than anyone expected, but that's not Airlines fault.

You can't really blame Ryanair when you're the one changing dates.

Air of a distorted sense of entitlement with comments like that.
