Freesat 4k box -failed recordings

Am experiencing a significant percentage of failed recordings with a "Freesat 4k" box bought only a couple of months ago. Initially I found that programmes set to record ,weren't , now I'm finding perhaps 6 out of 10 not recorded. There's no clash with simultaneous programs- they just fail. Signal is excellent. I've made contact with vendor but really I'd like to keep the box- any suggestions?

If you go to the AV forums there's a very long thread about the Arris box assuming that's what it is. You might well find some useful info there.

It seems to have a lot of problems. It has one holy grail of a key feature that might tempt a lot of people - it apparently works with the regular (wideband) Sky Q LNB, meaning if you’ve had Sky Q you don’t need to swap the LNB (something non-DIY people might be put off by). Are there any other FTA satellite STBs that do so?

Are you suggesting it'd work if I swapped to a sky Q lnb? That'd be great! Would I also have to upgrade dish to mk 4? Edit:I've done a bit of digging and it appears wideband lnb is the way to go thanks

To be clear I wasn’t suggesting that doing so was a solution to your problem (though it it does solve things, great!). More observing that the conventional wisdom is that swapping Sky Q for FTA requires replacing the LNB (unless you thought ahead and got a hybrid LNB at install time), but this particular box appears to have overcome that problem which might make it quite attractive to a Sky Q customer who might want to move to FTA but be put off by having to replace the LNB on this dish.

It's a very buggy box. Non-Freesat mode is useless - you have to retune the channels every time you use it. Then when you switch back to Freesat mode you have to go through the first time setup again and re-enter the postcode.

I only got one because my Humax died and replacements were stupidly expensive.

How is the Arris box for just watching channels and can you get netflix on it?

My Humax box died and we have tried a few boxes and none of the them suite (all freeview).

Netflix works fine on it, as does YouTube. The only time we ever had an issue with it was when my wife leaves something paused for hours and it doesn't restart when she gets back to it (but I'm not too surprised there).

Live TV and timeshift are usually fine. But sometimes it won't come out of standby and needs a reboot. Not as much as before at least.

Absolutely fine for watching channels, like yourself I'm coming from years of trouble free Humax boxes so not used to problems!

Most sites I looked at won't post to Ireland, anyone have a site\link where I can get one posted to me?

£199 (€230 approx) for the cheapest one, maybe I need to rethink and possibly update my TV?

Looking at the LG's with built in freesat plus apps?

Just to bear in mind, while recording watching other channels can be restricted, by not being able to change channel, I use a combo box as back when recording/viewing conflict.
