I'm looking to do my CPC theory test for Bus and Truck. I have a full C category Licence, and will be getting a full D licence in the future.

I'm looking at the Theorytest.ie website. It has 4 different courses listed under CPC.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between the CPCB (Bus Case study)/CPCT (Truck Case study) and the Bus/Truck Module tests is?

The CPCB/CPCT are €72 and the module tests are €45. I'm just not sure the difference and which ones I need to do.

    Thanks a lot

Depending on when you got your C licence etc you may not have to do anything for the truck

Check it out but I believe you can add on the CE licence because you're adding on a trailer just

For the bus however you're first exam will be the bus CPC theory test and then afterwards the CPC case studies for bus.

What I would do if I was you is the following

Do the cpc theory test for bus.
So the CPC case studies for bus
Go to NDLS and apply for learner permit for bus and CE on the same form. So you get your learner permit with CE and D on it

    Then you do your lessons

When you so your truck driving test again depending on when you got your licence etc you should be able to do just the truck and trailer test. And that should be it

For the bus you'll do the bus test and at the same time a Bus CPC Practical

Thanks for the reply, but now I'm even more confused! Haha

I got my truck licence in 2019, so I'm not entitled the CPC add-on. I already have a learner D/CE licence.

I'm just confused about the difference in the two different tests listed below.

    Sorry for being confusing....

When you did your truck test , did you do the CPC stuff with it ?

If you did that's fine, you don't need to worry about anything CPC or theory test wise for CE. Just do the actual driving test.

If you haven't done any CPC for truck then you need to do the CPC case studies (theory test) and the CPC walk around.

For the bus however, because you already have your learner permit it means you did the CPC theory test already. So that's done. But you do need to do the CPC case studies for bus and CPC walk around with the driving test.

Sorry it's probably me that's being confusing.

I am looking to do the case study tests for both the C and D categories. I want to be able to make money from driving a coach or a rigid truck.

I have a full rigid licence, and a coach learner permit, so I have done the theory tests. What other tests do I need to do?

It's the case studies you need to do.

The theory test you did first is the CPC theory test. So that's done for the both of them

You need to do the CPC case studies for both of them and the driving tests.

When booking the driving test there's another CPC walk-around that you book too at the same time

If you have truck license already I assume you have CPC card and you do 1 of 5 modules course once every year?

If that's the case all you need is Bus CPC, additional module for Bus drivers.

Do you have C license? And do you have blue CPC card?
