Apologies if this has been asked before, couldn’t find anything when I searched.

My FIL bought a 2017 Tuscon, he has an issue where he can’t put any eircodes into the satnav.
Is there a way to do this? Does he just need a map update?

Not possible, the nav doesn't support them. Most brands dont in fairness.

    Would that car have CarPlay?

Some did but people seem to want to persevere with the **** factory nav rather than using google maps.

Android Auto -> Google Maps if the car support it.

Thanks everyone, this car doesn’t have CarPlay so he’ll just have to live with it

Hard to fault the manufacturers in some senses, Eircode isn't a free system to use for commercial purposes.

I have to convert the Eircodes with Loc8 Code on my Garmin but it does work but doubt you have this option in a car sat nav.

Just a thing to note, while google maps can look up eircodes, not all the newest housing estates are on googles eircode database. Some you need to go to eircode.ie and from there back to the map to find the location. It seems googles database is old or behind the official site.

Eircode ideally needs an internet connection so new estates can be added.

The very latest version of the Hyundai and Kia infotainment software actually does support eircodes. There's no mention of this anywhere but someone on the Kia eNiro thread on the electric vehicle sub forum discovered it. I have a Niro PHEV and it works on that.
