Currently getting an extension built and getting some renovations also to old house. PLumbing a new heating system is factored in - new boiler and 2 zones - upstairs and downstairs and ? I think but can't remember , a hot water zone.Bit fuzzy about the details as not knowing aything about this. What should I be asking? He's coming for "first fit" on Monday. I.m wondering about the SIEA grant. Have been quoted 1500 but that seems low or would he have factored in the grant into that price ie that he will get 700 from the grant? I never thought of it. Is it reasonable to ask about thermostats on the rads? We are getting new rads too - haven't yet picked them out - should we tell him the style and does he source them or do we? Bit clueless , sorry. It's all arranged as part of the build but now i'm thinking I'm not that sure about what is what and don't want to be too big an eejit! I also wondered about the timer thing like Hive but think that's only for gas and we have oil.

As far as I know there is no boiler grant. There is a heating control grant. Your installer will be registered with SEI. You might need a BER cert first. All of this should have been discussed with the plumber before he gave the price. Probably better forgetting about the grant if he is about to start the work.

It's all part of a build extension.
