    Hi,

The roof on my 09 VW EOS is not working. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic who could repair this for me at a reasonable price?

    Thanks...

Any chance it's something as simple as a blown fuse?

If it's up i'd leave it up. They are a serious can of worms, i'd check the basics (switch operation etc) anf if it goes beyond that just leave it, rarely a simple fix and even more rarely a cheap fix. Every aspect of them gives trouble.

First thing I’d do is find someone with the proper VW level diagnostics equipment.

I wouldn’t go messing with blown fuses either as that’s probably a symptom rather than a problem.

If you want recommendations then you need to tell which county you're in.

In my experience, very few Indy's will take on electric roofs. Main dealers like them even less. Almost always, they cost huge money to fix unless you're very lucky. Sensors, micro-swithces, pumps, rams, water ingress....

I'm with toyotafanboi, if it's up, leave it up. If it's hot, open a window..

Was wondering where they’d all gone to? They were relatively common for a convertible but then seemed to disappear- wonder was it the expensive problems outlined?

They were a complete PITA. So many different bits of the roof give trouble, as said.

A lot of the problem is the roof wont get used from one end of the year to the next, then one day the owner will decided to let the roof down and find it wont go down, you'll fix whatever is immediately stopping it from going, then the owner will use it a handful of times then the next item that spend the last 2 years laying up deteriorating gives up the ghost and that's the exact same time that the garage who fixed the first fault ends up married to the car. Then it's a bit of a domino effect after that.

You'd do your level best not to work on one as they were not hassle in every respect. That and there's always an expectation that it will be fixed for €50.

Between that and leaks, none of the roof's got the proper maintenance or really got the proper climate in Ireland and they all leak like a sieve.

Just had a look on YouTube of one operating- they do look overly complicated, lots of working bits to go wrong. Over elaborate design

Hey mate, so unusual I just put up a post about my 08 Eos. If you’ve found anyone or have any info I’d greatly appreciate it if you can pass it on ☺️

It’s actually named after the Greek goddess of menopause.
