Had a service recently and the passenger airbag light is on. The garage said I'd have to go to a Skoda garage for them to look.

Do some non Skoda garages sort issues like this do people know?

I looked under the seat to see if there was a wire looses like Mr Google said but spotted nothing.

I wonder has anyone ever found the wires broken under the seat :)

Without knowing the model, the biggest cause of the passenger airbag fault on the dash of most VAG stuff is the deactivation switch in the glove box. A near certainty i'd say if it's a Fabia or Octavia, but at the same time just an educated guess.

What year and model it it? The switches are cheap enough.

Most garages should be able to diagnose this without going to a dealer, i'm surprised yous isnt.

If the car didn't have the light on before you brought it in for a service, I'd be telling the garage that did the service to correct the light warning instead of sending you off to a main dealer who will charge you for clearing the code. If they did the pollen filter as part of the service they were down by the glove box and could have unplugged wiring for the airbag which is in that area, which would set off the light. Nearly every garage will have multiple scan tools to work with different makes and models and clearing a code is not anything in depth, I replaced my fan blower motor on an audi a few years ago and I had to unplug the airbag, which caused the light to show, brought it to a local garage and they cleared the code in less than 2 minutes, problem solved.

Yeah, there's a bunch of wiring behind the glove box including airbag related ones. AFAIK if it was disconnected and reconnected the warning still needs to reset via one of the computery apps.

This is true, airbag light needs to be cleared through a plug-in to the OBD2 port, even if the problem is fixed the light won't go away on its own

I recently had an airbag light on a Polo. (Today coincidentally). Diagnostic scan revealed that the deactivation switch in the glovebox was faulty. I bought a switch from a breakers for €25 and cleared the fault code. All sorted.
