Changing from slab to gravel patio - advice needed on sublease

    Hello all,

This patio lark has my heart broken.

I've got the site dug out, I have hardcore in and whacked down. I have patio sand (grit sand) poured and well, now we've decided to go for a gravel patio.

Less hassle than laying slabs so that's a plus.

However, do I now need to remove all of the patio sand? My thinking is hardcore - weed fabric - gravel will be better than hardcore - sand - weed fabric - gravel as any chairs/table could sink into the sand.

    Appreciate any advice, thanks.

Im in the middle of this same job.

I have dug out, will be compacting hard-core and sand.

Then putting these hex sheets down and filling with fancy gravel.

Cheers for that, haven't seen them before.

That being said, if you put a chair down on that, would the chair not sink into it and potentially into the sand, cutting the fabric?

wouldnt worry about it too much (chairs piercing the fabric) - no weeds will grow through the hardcore anyway.
Idea of a barrier between hardcore layer and sand is to stop the sand from washing between the gaps in the hardcore. This is less likely to happen with proper patio sand (which you already have)

If I were you i'd put a membrane over the sand simply to stop the sand from being disturbed back above your decorative gravel.

Not if you get small enough grit, 10mm max

what does the sublease refer to in the title

“I can’t pay my staff or mortgage with instagram likes”.

Can't be 100% certain but I will be getting chairs with bar ends....or whatever they are called, so will do the job.

You overfill the hex sheets anyway, that should help.
