    How soon is soon?

Looks like FTTH is nearly there is my area and when I put in my eircode it says

    "Fibre to the Home
    (150-1000 Mbit/s)
    Available soon"

My contract with existing eir is almost done, up in June, would like to tie into a new package. Anyone know timelines on this?

I'm in Longford town and in the same boat. Been checking Airwire's page regularly after noting that Longford was on the list of locations launching soon.

Funny thing is there was a story in the Longford Leader last week that got me excited only for them to be the only website with any mention of it anywhere.

No other site posted anything about it at all. I even emailed them to ask them where they got this info as nobody else had any reference to it. No response from them. Link to story below:

Well up until recently airwire was stating not available for FTTH the "coming soon" is a new status.

I couldn't say exactly how long it has been there, but it has definitely been there a few months as I have had a tab open with their site for ages now.

I caught an Eir engineer yesterday as he was working on the cabinet in my estate and asked him about Eir FTTH after that story I attached and he said that they won't be working on the FTTH in Longford until June.

He said to keep an eye out for the KN Group vans and engineers. They were around a few weeks ago actually installing ducting so that is a positive sign.

In relation to SIRO who will provide the backbone that Airwire will piggyback on, I met some of their lads surveying the estate a few months ago too. That is obviously the first stage in their work so will be a while yet if I was to guess. I can't remember what they said other than they were just surveying and he couldn't say when the work would start or when it would actually be available.

Would be great to have both options available though. We could use the bandwidth here.
