Vodafone Gigabox slow WiFi when ethernet used

    Hi all,

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere can't see anything with the search on mobile.

All of a sudden our 500Mb Vodafone has gone down to 5Mb when on WiFi, I reset the modem and router as per their support suggestions but it seems to happen when I have a Powerline plugged in. As the Powerline is for my PC and CCTV it's fairly important.

Is there a way to limit the ethernet or something so I can go back to getting full speed?

    Are they Wifi powerlines.

No just ethernet. Was working fine up until a few days ago, only had Vodafone for two weeks. Tried different ethernet cables and also plugging the Powerline into the modem and router and no difference.

Might try a different Powerline and see if that helps.

If I had to bet, you've skipped a step.

    Test:
Homeplugs: Google whats my IP on a device thats seeing the slowdown
    Remove Homeplugs: repeat the above?

    Does the IP reported change?

Yeah the IP address changes with the plug removed. Any ideas? I'm clueless when it comes to networking. Port forwarding is the extent of my experience.

You're connecting via next doors router, the hoemplugs are bridging the two networks.

They have an encryption/security function, you should use it ;)

I'm on our Vodafone 5Ghz WiFi and the plug is connected to the router? Not sure what would cause the mix-up?
