Help with answering below question

I'm struggling to write a short and detailed answer to this question. I've answered before with a failed interview and I'm determined to not mess up my chances again.

The question doesn't confuse me but making my answer sound professional rather than writing like I'm speaking to a friend is the issue. I've quoted the question below and I've looked up the STAR method and it's like my mind has gone blank and doesn't know what to say. All help will be appreciated

"Please demonstrate experience adhering to policies, procedures, guidelines and practices, to perform the role effectively"

You need to think of a time where something happened and you followed a policy. Hard to give an exact answer for you without knowing your working history but it could be something like

    A customer made a complaint
I followed the company complaint procedure by (example passing on to the area manager)
The area manager resolved the issue and the customer was happy.

    Or in retail
There was a new promotion of X product
I followed the company guideline for marketing the item
    Sales increased by X amount

You are right to follow the STAR method.
