Noisy floorboards new build

Moved into a new build about 3 months ago and ever since we moved in the floorboards have been a nightmare. The carpet fitters came back after a few weeks to tighten some of them up which wasn't their job but agreed to do it anyways.

A few weeks after though and its happening again and its basically all over upstairs that its noisy. Its vey annoying and with young kids has woken them a few times. Ive asked the builder to come and have a look so waiting for him to call.

Has anyone else had this experience with a new build? Or offer the best solution to tighten them? They used nails but ive read screws are much better to use? I know the builder will either say they will tighten them by hammering them again or else do nothing..

Strange that is happening on a new build, did you by any chance see what is holding the boards down? Boards usually creek and squeak when rubbing against those horrible square nails, these don't hold well and allow twisted board to move up and down which is what you can hear. Not sure if builders still use these on new builds.
If I was doing this I would pre-drill pilot holes 1mm smaller than a body of a screw and drive 4x40/5x40 or 50mm screws in. Make sure you know where ALL your pipes are before attempting to do this.

Was going to mention the exact same thing. It works perfectly. The running glue getting in to every nook.

Are they sheets or planks?

screwing down is the only sure way to resolve it.

Nails will eventually come loose and nails are usually used by builders because its much quicker put put down the floor with a nail gun.

Every time i renovate a house one of the must do jobs is to screw down all the floor boards before finishing the floor. Takes a few hundred screws but its the only way.
