So anyone who has done test recently able to tell me what sort if any the type of questions they may ask.

Not worried about the driving bit.

Just sh1t like this, and even at the start the cockpit drill, so much stuff to remember. I was given about 8/9 things to remember, that's even before taking off. I'm just belt on, observation and then off if its safe to do so. Obviously that won't work on the test.

Signals, signs speeds limits I'm ok on.

    Just them tecky bits.

    Any help appreciated

    So on my test last week it went;

Open the bonnet, show the oil, coolant and wiper water. How would you know if each was low. How to check oil/where to put oil.

Hop in the car. Put your seatbelt on the second you get in, they like that. They'll check the indicators and all work, that's fine. Then they sit in and asked me where my rear demister was, how I would turn on my dipped lights, how to circulate the air in the car, how I would turn on my rear fog light. Make sure to know which is front and which is rear cos you wont get away with saying "You turn the stem there" they want you to actually turn them on.

Check out Dane Thygh on YouTube, he has videos that cover literally every aspect of the test.

    Holy f##k./..........

As it stands I'm failing the test. I was full sure I'd struggle on the driving side but based on that erm........looks like this is exactly the sh1t that will f##k me up.

Yeah thanks I will have a look at videos if anyone has videos to add then that would be helpful. I'm not going to a school to pay for someone to tell me that.

I was told all this is the lessons but I was kind of like yeah shut up and drive

I'm not a bit mechanically minded but honestly it's child play. Each one of those containers is marked clearly, along with a minimum max line. Honestly just google "Irish driving test under the bonnet check" and you'll see.

The secondary controls you should really know regardless, just from being in a car. Other than maybe the fog lights I'm not sure how you'd get caught out by them.

FWIW, taking two pretest lessons was the best money I've spent since I started learning to drive.

Yeah that's my plan nearer to the test is a couple of last lessons.

Now that you say you recently done your test had you much of a wait time?? I'm presuming like me you were able to tell them you were an essential worker.

The portal only opened back for ADI's recently so I don't know how long the wait is

Yeah, I'm an essential worker. Took just over two weeks from the day I applied to sitting the test.
