    Hi Folks,

I’ve to replace my logbook as dog ate current one. My vehicle is a Cork registered car. Does that make my local tax office Cork as that’s where the car is registers?
    I’m based in Dublin.

Cannot find info on this online and need to send bank draft and form to local motor tax office.

when I lost mine, I printed off form, went to Garda station and posted it off with bank draft/postal order to Shannon

don't think change of address will be a problem

LineArrowRight.png Replacement Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC)

You must apply to your local motor tax office for a replacement VRC where the original has been lost (e.g. in the post) destroyed or damaged.
You must complete Form RF134, get it witnessed and stamped by a member of An Garda Siochána, and then send it to that office. Form RF134 is available at your local motor tax office or by clicking here. A replacement VRC will be posted from our offices.
    A replacement VRC is €12.

Your local MTO is the one where the car is currently registered, the address that was on the VRC and where your tax disc is posted.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Thanks ive seen this. Doesn’t state whether the county the vehicle is registered is the cars local motor tax office or whether it’s the county I’m currently residing in with car.

I would send it to the Dublin tax office if that is where you live. It'll end up in Shannon anyways.

    How is the dog BTW?

Tax disc posted to Dublin address

Car registered in cork with Cork reg

When you bought it did you fill in a Dublin address? I'm guessing so if you're getting tax in Dublin. If so, the car is registered in Dublin, not Cork.

The county on the reg doesn't matter.

See I’ve to make out a bank draft to either

    A. Dublin City council (where I reside)

    B. Cork Count Council (where car is registered)

I don’t want any messing hence I’m trying to get a definite answer but information seems to be conflicting here. Can’t get a human on the phone either they just keep saying “YOUR LOCAL MTO”

So I’m going to take that for what it is and post it to Dublin City tax office.

    Good answer makes sense
    Is Dublin so.

Wherever you have the car taxed, I would imagine.

(Recently I had to change details on the VRC and I applied to my local tax office even though the vehicle was originally registered in offaly)

So in your case, your local MTO in Dublin

Ye, the county on the registration plate is only where the first owner lived and means nothing for subsequent owners.
