The tub of my pickup is splitting at the seams due to rust. Quite a large crack in the bed of it.
I was considering removing it completely and making a simple flatbed for it instead.

Will this be an issue when it comes to testing, CVRT.
Will I need an engineers report carried out? If so what will an engineer check for in order to approve it?

There are several Hiluxes with Aussie style trayback beds on them runnby utility and tree care companies. Would you need an engineers report if you replaced with with a factory bed? Not a definite answer but huge variety of small truck bodies might suggest you would be ok

Cant see it being an issue, as said you see some converted into tippers.

you could ring your local CVRT centre and ask?

What type of pick up out of curiosity?

Hi If you change or modify the vehicle's body you will be required to complete a "Declaration of Conversion Form" This will need to be signed off by a Motor Assessor /Engineer.
Your CVRT agent may also present you with a modifications report which will also have to be signed off by an SQI (suitably qualified Individual) alternatively they may require you to present an engineers report documenting the changes made and certifying that they have been carried out to a good standard.

    Thanks for the info David.
Do you have any idea of the costs involved in obtaining these reports?
