Just to be clear, this is the equivalent of one of us going to the dentist. The cow shuffles a bit during the video at the beginning but it's due to the uncomfortable stance resting on three legs.

The infection is very painful for them, removing most of the hoof isn't sore, but the last bit is, and yes, there's a wee bit of blood. But like the dentist the initial pain is worth it in the long run.

I remember helping as a kid at this, but the animals would be tied at the neck and the foot held between the legs of the vet or farrier. This guy has a hydraulically operated foot grip. Nice.
