Question about TV aerial needed.

Had a look at other threads but still fairly confused. I currently have a sky box with no sub so getting the free to air channels. What do I need to get the Irish terrestrial channels?

One thread I read recommend at wideband aerial. I'm living in North county Dublin. Would this work? https://www.screwfix.ie/p/labgear-yagi-mast-uhf-wideband-aerial/33455

Also looking for the easiest way to mount it. Sky dish is on the gable so would like to keep them together if possible.

Aiming for Three Rock, you could get a specifically grouped antenna for the particular mux channels, 30 and 33.

It would be smaller than the wideband you posted, and easier to mount on the satellite dish pole.

Rabbits ears work for me.

That aerial is quite large. You are close to 3 rock so look at this one, its good I've used it. Works indoors as well.

You can buy a pole to have dish and aerial on it. look here, depends how handy you are, ie take dish down, put back up in exact same position. take a pic before,

Depends a lot on location. Definitely start with rabbit ears. I've had success with those before.

Take a look at the Saorview coverage checker, as there are parts of nth. Dublin where the recommended transmitter is Clermont Carn. Whether this definitely rules out Three Rock or Kippure in 'real life' can only be tested at the location in question, but it's something to bear in mind, as it would need an aerial facing a different direction to the dish, & wouldn't suit the group A aerial that would be good for Three Rock & Kippure.

So called rabbits ears are VHF aerials for DAB and FM radio. Completely unsuitable for UHF TV. Get a proper TV aerial of the type you suggested.

No rabbits ears are 2 vertical rods that (vaguely) look like rabbits ears. As I said they are for VHF not UHF.

The aerial you linked to is pretty useless as well. Just a simple aerial hidden in a plastic box with a high gain amplifier tagged on to it. Amplifiers on indoor aerials are a waste of time, money, and electricity. All they do is amplify the local noise so you just get louder noise. Amplifiers are meant to overcome the loss on a long run of coax which you don't have on an indoor aerial.

If you are in a strong signal area go for a cheap aerial in a € shop. Otherwise the aerial you linked to in your first post.

Went with this in the end. Just sat it on the floor of the attic and it worked perfectly, ran one wire down into the bedroom and the other out the eaves and in the wall to the sitting room tv. Much more straight forward than I imagined. Thanks all for the advice.
