Black Eyes Susan tips for flowers

I have grown Black Eyed Susan vines from seed. They are now about 1 foot tall and the tips are really vining, getting long and stringy with not so many offshoots. Should I nip the top off to encourage bushiness and more flowers or just leave them be. Will eiither method produce more flowers?

If you mean Thunbergia alata then just let it grow away.
