Hi all myself and my partner are on jobseekers with two children all on his claim since October 2020. In this time I’ve completed a course and have a job at interview on Tuesday. I’m expecting to earn about €300 does anyone know when I start work how much jobseekers will he be entitled to?

Is it Jobseekers Benefit or Jobseekers Allowance?

How many days will you be working?

Jobseeker’s Allowance, 2-3 days a week probably 10-12 hour shifts it’s a support worker role id say my wages would be about €12 per hour as I’m new to the job

Sorry deleted my earlier reply as I missed it was JA in the title.

The way it works is as follows:
For every day you work you're allowed €20 per day (up to a maximum of €60 per week).

Assuming you earn €300 over 3 days. Disregard €60. That leaves €240. 60% of €240 is the means from your employment.

    60% of €240 is €144.

So his JA would decrease by €144.

You might be better off applying for Working Family Payment. Have a look at this link. https://www.gov.ie/en/service/08bb21-working-family-payment/

Email your Intreo centre and they will advise you when you have more precise information.

Thanks very much for your reply, at the moment it seems we would get more with jsa I’ve worked out wfp as we’ve had that in the past. My partner is hoping to do a course and find a job for himself too so I think we’ll stay on jsa for the moment anyways :)

If you are married you would be entailed to FIS. Family Income Support. Not sure if you are eligible if you aren't.

You don't have to be married to get FIS, name changed to Working Family Payment
