Hi all, I'm looking to change my car.
    Max budget is 10 grand.

Currently have a 08 Ford Mondeo 1.8 diesel which is on its last legs.
I want something a bit smaller, but not tiny, and more practical when manoeuvring in cities.

Use case would be a mix of motorway and city driving.

Thinking about a hatchback in the mold of a Ford Focus or Honda Civic.
Would also consider a smaller saloon, but not so sure about the options in that segment.

I'd prefer petrol, but most used cars in Ireland are diesel.

Main priorities are reliability and safety.

Any suggestions in this price range?

    Thank you

If reliability is the thing then a 1.4 Ceed or i30 or a 1.33 Auris.

Nissan Pulsar is worth a look at too. They are dull as ditch water and tend to be forgotten about but used prices tend to reflect it.

I thought I read on here that the ceed and i30 give gearbox trouble?
Or was that just the older ones?

Don’t think any of them had gearbox problems.
I40 with the 1.7 diesel maybe?
