Have ewes and dry Hoggetts to dose at weekend, land was fairly wet over the winter so were done with Flukiver on a programme.Last dosed around 8 weeks ago.Majority of ewes lambed from last few days of March to 10th April.

Have Supaverm and Cydectin in date from last year....was wondering should I do the ewes with Supaverm as it covers both Fluke and worms.....have seen it recommended before to worm ewes once a year around lambing time.
Was thinking of giving the Hoggetts Cydectin (yellow wormer) as they are going to dry ground.
Are the lambs old enough to give a white wormer to cover for Nematodirus.....are around 5 weeks on average?....
Will be giving them a heptavac P shot as well.

Thanks for anyone’s thoughts on my plan:)

Should be no need to dose for fluke this time of year if you did 8 weeks ago.

Fluke depends on the snail for part of it's lifecycle so this time of year there shouldn't be much fluke.

I'd say dose the lambs. I have heard it recommended to dose some ewes around lambing to reduce pasture burden as lambing can cause them to shed worms. The recommendation was to leave 10-20% to contaminate pasture with low levels of susceptible worms to avoid resistance.

I think nematodirus could be the problem with rising temps

Is it the kind Of year where a second dose for nematodirus might be needed with the frost we are still having?

Yea, we're going with a second dose three weeks after the first. FECs doesn't really work for nematodirus in that by the time they're in the dung they've a lot of harm done.

Good advice here one dosing ewe or not dosing ewes

According to that article it's saying not to bother dosing mature ewes for worms....so I will do the hoggetts with Cydectin and will do any thin ewe with Supaverm.
