    Hi all,
We’re based in north Dublin and are looking for recomendations on somewhere that looks after per dogs over night or for an extended period of time ... a week or so?
Our fella is a house trained beagle of a year old. We haven’t left him over night before and would have left him with my sister but her dog doesn’t get in with our fella at all. Just thinking ahead as we’ve to go to Sligo for a family gathering in June and can’t bring him with us.
Any suggestions would be great but I think I heard previously of places that have dogs stay over in peoples homes?
Anyway again any ufo would be great
    Thanks

Go to your local vets and ask. They usually have numbers for pet sitters on their notice board. Or ask if one of the vet nurses would be interested. Personally, I’d prefer to keep the dog in my own home & have the pet sitter stay there.

There are sites where a person comes and stays in your home with the pet. All garda vetted etc.. They tend to be older people.

Where in North Dublin are you? I used to use a great kennels in Dunshaughlin called Stony Arch.

If your dog has never been in kennels before, I would recommend getting him used to it by leaving him one night to start with and work from there. It's great for his socialisation with other dogs and gives you options on care if you need it.

There are others that are primarily for minding the house but take on the pets too.

Following on from this, could anyone recommend Dublin north side kennels? I wouldn’t be keen on the idea of a stranger dog sitting in my house at all.

Tip: If you use a dog sitter, as a rule of thumb only use one who asks you for proof that your dog's vaccinations are up to date.

If they don't ask for this, it means they could be minding unvaccinated dogs, which you might not want around your dog.

Most pet sitters will ask to meet your dog outside first, maybe casually on a walk in the park or something.
