    I was watching this the other night. I can't understand why the Irish government tried to buy guns for the Nationalists in the North during the 70s.

    Why just not let the IRA hijack some consignment of army guns, and then go and replace the guns for the army through normal channels.

    I also can't believe they let that arms dealer away with keeping the money for the guns.

    Then I learned it was a Fianna Fail government. Quelle Surprise.

    Maybe the army might not want to have had their guns hijacked and might've started shooting back.
