So I've been watching The One on Netflix and it's about this service that finds your perfect match based on your DNA. Would you do the test if it existed? I'd definitely do it because the curiosity would only kill me if I didn't. Would you do it even if you were already married, happily so? Throws up all kind of questions.

Is it nature or nurture though? Like what good is the dna match up if the person is from such a different culture to you that you have nothing in common besides?

You can match up on paper based on any criteria, but can only tell when you meet them in person if they rev your engine.

There's also the risk of your DNA eventually finding it's way into the hands of life and health insurance companies.

    It's a no from me.

Is that "The One" more like 27 Dresses, or Black Mirror?

    Not keen on the blurb.

I think it's supposed to be some sort of instant attraction based on genes. So they could be from anywhere but they'd be the right person for you, kind of thing.

Well I'm not too worried about my DNA and life insurance companies as I can't get life insurance due to a pre-existing condition but I can see how that would be a concern for people!

It's more like a Black Mirror kind of TV Show. It's good!

No, im not 12 therefore i dont believe in soulmates.
Although mention of the excellent black mirror has got me curious about the programme

There's a series with the exact same premise on Amazon called, funnily enough, 'Soulmates'. It consists of 6 different stories related to people who take the eponymous soulmate test. It struck me as a Black Mirror episode that they managed to stretch out to a whole series.

I might consider it if I was single for long enough, but I'm very happy with my long-term partner and think I'd prefer the old-fashioned method of finding a mate, although this practice has evolved naturally over time and more and more people seem to find their partners through electronic means nowadays anyway, rather than through the old traditional means.

At this stage, yeah, id try anything! But I'm guessing the show only has ridiculously good looking people on it, so is a load of shyte anyway.

what if I sign up, but my soulmate doesn't?
Do they work their way down a list of other rejects and go, close enough?

    Load of waffle

    “The one” doesn’t exist

A life partner that doesn’t sweat the little things is all we need

We change outrageously over the course of our lives anyway so “the one” now won’t be “the one” then

There's a lot to be said about the arranged marriage setup.
