Hi I am a type one diabetic with severe proliferate retinopathy in both eyes, with zero vision out of left eye at the moment. Very likely that I will require intrusive operations on both eyes as laser treatments so far have not helped.
As I will not be able to work after these operations, due to long recovery periods, would I be able to get disability allowance. This eye disease will be with me for a long time to come.
If I apply for disability allowance, can I get my current payment rate through the SWA weekly payment from the CWO, while a decision is being made.
Also my partner gets half rate carers allowance, as I claim for her.
Will her payment be affected, as I will have to sign off while waiting on a decision on the disability allowance.
Or is there another payment I could apply for?
Thanks for reading and for any advice if offered.

You need to get in touch with either citizens advice or Dept SW themselves as without knowing the full storey nobody here can answer
