Places you discovered during lockdown

Where are the places you went in your own county during lockdown that you never knew were so nice

Il start with Tipperary, I thought it was fairly barren place like a lot of people do with inland counties but I never appreciated the beauty of some places . Il go with

Ballina/ Killaloe on the Shannon and Lough Derg

    Lake Muskry in the Galtees

Clare Glens , walks and waterfalls

Really beautiful places and I’m ashamed to say places I probably would never have seen had it not been for lockdown. I have no doubt there are so many similar stories around the country

The crawl space in my attic. It'd nearly fit a double bed. I might rent it out...

A lot of old dock lands in Cork City and obscure streets that were like something out of “The Secret Garden” that I would never have probably never set foot on otherwise as I had no incentive to do any kind of urban exploration walking.

The Galway wind park out by Oughterard (Obviously in Galway) . It is pretty isolated but it is a nice walk among forestry and turbines. Midweek it can be empty and there is 40 km of tracks. Really mellows me out and it is not that strenuous.

In Co Dublin - the Dodder Linear Park.
Full of wildlife and fascinating corners of history.

Nothing more relaxing than getting shadow flicker from turbines.

Ringsend and the East link area comes to mind. I always drove through the area, but never had an opportunity to walk around. I did a walk from Lansdowne station to the East link one sunny day when I was on furlough, and it was pretty nice. I followed the Dodder from Ballsbridge all the way to the end. Saw lots of lovely swans, herons, some rowers. Got as far as the Rowing club, and just chilled out watching the swans where the Grand Canal Dock and the Dodder enter the Liffey.

Another time, we went off to find the old cross at Rathmichael as part of a country walk
