Landcruiser J100 rear floor

    Hi
    A lot of the J100 landcruisers that were converted to commercial had the floor at the back lowered, and a bulkhead put in behind the second row of seats. An Irish solution to an Irish problem I guess. Would it be a big job to change such a landcruiser to a 2 seat commercial, with an entirely open space behind the 2 front seats? I assume the bulkhead could be removed easily enough, but what about restoring the floor to normal? This would allow the spare wheel to go up underneath as normal, and would raise the ground clearance. Would it be an awkward job?

    You could convert it to two Seat, but the value in those is that they’re crewcabs.

    That was the old regulations for crewcabs that required this. They also relocate the exhaust, you’ll need a new towbar too.
    Restoring the floor to normal and keeping the seats in place would technically be wrong, but as with a lot of things, you’d get away with it, given that the rules changed in the meantime so there’s no way of CVRT or anybody knowing which regs it was built to follow.

    It would be a very messy job. Hardly worth doing tbh, and you wouldn’t know what horrors you’ll come across once you start stripping it back.
    I saw one that had a wood screw through the curtain airbag wiring, for example.
